Vologda region is going to allocate 200-300 million rubles to the construction of the European-level tourist infrastructure that will increase tourist flow in the framework of the project "Silver Necklace of Russia", Governor of the Vologda region Oleg Kuvshinnikov said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2016).
Inter-regional tourist project "Silver Necklace of Russia" unites 11 Federal subjects in the North-West Federal District: St. Petersburg, Leningrad, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Pskov, Novgorod regions: Karelia and Komi Republics, the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
"The Russian President said development of domestic tourism is a priority. Currently, our most important task is building the infrastructure of the European level. We are planning to allocate 200-300 million annually for these purposes,” Kuvshinnikov said, noting that the Vologda region is a part of the tourist route "Northern necklace Russia" that is gaining popularity.
The Governor is confident that in a few years the tourist project will become the country’s heritage.
