My Friend Olivier

Aleksandr Chuprakov/

The shtick of this urban café is Olivier salad, available in an unusual variety of options: with sausage, pork buzhenina, boiled beef, chicken breast and mushrooms, veal tongue, and dry-salted salmon. The rest of the menu consists of the perennial favourites: pork buzhenina, duck legs confit, beef stroganoff with mashed potatoes, and the like. The wine list is small. Sometimes they stage unusual but nice promotions. Some days, for example, if you walk in and tell a server: “My friend Olivier told me about this place,” you get a free dessert. They also have treats for birthday boys and girls.
