UNESCO has named Ekaterinburg one of the world’s twelve ideal cities and this title perfectly suits the capital of Ural, a territory full of natural treasures such as oil, gas, gold mines and Europe’s largest emerald deposit.

Municipal Administration of Ekaterinburg
In the centre of the square you’ll see the City Hall. Once upon a time this was the Gostiny Dvor, full of merchant stalls, and later it was a museum. The City Hall building has been reconstructed twice: first, the two-storey building was turned into a five-storey one, and then, after WWII, it was given a sprucing-up and a turret with a clock. The Korobkov merchant mansion is located opposite the City Hall, and today is a modern shopping centre.
